Opal McCoy Meeks 85 of Dingess, WV. passed away peacefully at her home on Friday April 7, 2023 surrounded by her daughter/caregiver Debbie Lee, granddaughters Kenya Mullins Perry and Kelli Browning following a long illness.
Opal was born on July 6, 1937 at Kirk, WV. to Carlos and Delcie Mullins.
Opal spent her entire life as a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend to everyone.
When you stepped through her door you were welcomed, loved and fed.
She was an amazing homemaker.
She loved spending time with her family, shopping, sitting on the porch, going to auctions, cooking and people watching, our family is truly blessed to have had her for so many wonderful years.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents Carlos and Delcie Mullins of Dingess, WV., her husband of 30 years Killis McCoy and then her husband of 10 years Carlos Meeks, her brother and sister in law Paul and Harleen Mullins of Dingess, WV., and her son Kenneth “Kenny” Mullins of NC.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter/caregiver Debbie(Kevin) Lee of Dingess, WV., her son Terry(Delores) Mullins of Denton, NC.
Her grandchildren Kelli(Jeff) Browning of Dingess, WV, Kenya(Phillip) Perry of Saint Albans, WV, Shaun(Katrina) Mullins of Logan, WV, Meghan(Paul) Jarrell of NC, Elaine(Michael) Taylor of OK, Jeff(Misty) Mullins of NC, Chris(Shelia) Mullins of NC.
Great grandchildren Lexi, Karlee and Bailey Opal(her name sake) Browning of Dingess, WV, Killis “Ethan”(Jackie) Meeks, Tyler(Brittany) Meeks both of OH, Kaleigh, Mason Mullins of NC, Elena and Finn Mullins of Logan, WV, Joshua, Caleb(Kristen) Taylor of OK, Bradley(Ashley) Mullins, Miranda(Ryan) Coleman, Nicholas(Kathleen) Mullins, Lexi Mullins, Carter and Willow Jarrell all of NC.
Great Great grandsons Caleb, Colton, Christopher Mullins of NC, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, one special friend Sid Marcum of Dingess, WV.
Colegrove Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements, at Opal’s request a graveside service will be officiated by her grandson Pastor Phillip Perry.
Services will be Wednesday April 12, 2023 at 2pm at a family cemetery at East Fork(12 pole).
Pallbearers will consist of family and friends.
I want to personally thank the nurses from Dignity Hospice for all the care they gave mom, and Dr. Radha and Summer for all the years of treating her.
