Toney Runyon Obituary

Toney Kay Runyon, 69, of Delbarton, West Virginia, passed away October 5, 2023, peacefully at her home with her husband by her side. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Sue Runyon; mother, Katie Queen (Frye) Moore; father, Beldin Frye; sisters Mary (Frye) Clark, Patricia (Runyon) Jackson, Judy Stollings, and Tonda Branham; brother Jesse Frye; sisters Melvia Caldwell and Barbara Moore; brothers Melvin Moore and Estel Ray Moore.

Still here to honor her memories are her husband of 53 years, Ronald Runyon of Delbarton, WV; son Ronald (Pamela) Runyon of Centerville, Ohio; daughter Katie (Leonard) Maynard, of Delbarton, WV; daughter Velnetta (Matthew) Runyon Ranson of Logan, WV; grandchildren Billie Alexis (Cory) Robinson, Marie (Zach) Shawver, Christopher (Emmy) Bailey, Dawson (Annastasia) Loving, Netta Jo Maynard, Joshua O’Dell, Michael Engle II, Eli Engle, Parker Ranson, Presley Ranson, Ronnie Runyon III, Ella Runyon, and Clearfield (Gracie) Canterbury; great grandchildren, Riley Robinson, Jack Robinson, Avery Shawver, Ryder Bailey, Kehlani Loving, Jakobie Canterbury, and Gabriel Canterbury; sisters Jeannie (Bill) Balewski, Tammy (Howard) Hodge, Diana Picklesimer; brothers Randy (Pamela) Frye, Donnie (Cindy) Runyon, David (Barbara) Runyon, Vernal (Kim) Runyon, and George Jackson; sisters Ida (Arbie) Rice, Arbutis Moore, Malta Rice; and brothers, Ben (Debra) Moore, and Alfred Moore. Toney also had a plethora of nieces, nephews, extra children, and great grandchildren that, although not related by blood, were bonded by unmatched love.

Toney Kay was born January 29, 1954, in Logan, WV.  She spent a lot of her early years moving often due to her father’s job but spent her adult life in southern West Virginia where she met and married Ronnie. She had many jobs throughout the years, but none as important or as special as being a mom to every child in her life. She took pride in making sure every person she met felt loved and safe. No one could discount the fact she succeeded flawlessly. Rest assured in knowing that if Toney knew you, Toney loved you.

Toney Kay lived her life serving and loving the Lord. She was a member of Duncan Fork United Baptist Church, and it was there she taught her children how to live a life of service. Anyone blessed to hear her sing, especially for the Lord, could feel the anointing. What brought her most joy was watching her family grow and having her home filled with love and laughter.  She was adored by all who knew her and will be missed beyond measure.

Her celebration of life will take place Sunday, October 8th at Colegrove Funeral Home in Lenore, WV.  There will be visitation hours from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with the service starting at 11:00. Following the graveside service at Lenore Memorial Gardens, there will be a family gathering that everyone is welcome to attend at Katie Maynard’s home in Delbarton.
